300 please

Just saw the movie "300" at the dollar theater. Totally AWESOME!! There's around a 100 percent to 100 percent chance I will own this on DVD. WOW.

My fortune and satisfaction

Cleaning up the mess that is my computer desk / entertainment center, I've ran across an old fortune cookie slogan from eating out. Ponder this:

You cannot run away from yourself; you're always right behind you.

Oh. Kay.

I also found this post card from some company I ordered stuff from at work (don't ask why I have it at home). It's a survey card. "Our Goal Is Your Satisfaction" and "How Do We Measure Up?" I wonder how many of these are never returned. I guess "no news is good news" eh. I think I'll join the crowd.

Survey

As you know, I've been out shopping and running errands. Ya know when your out and about with the general populous, you ever get the feeling that people are giving you - that - certain look. Is it me? My dress? B.O.?

Here's the survey. Does the dress make it? Style, color, matching? Perhaps its not acceptable attire unless you hanging out drinking beer with your buddies. Let me know folks.

Lunch

Tasty Toasted Sandwiches

1 pimiento
1 small onion
1/4 point American cheese
2 hard-cooked eggs
1/4 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
1/4 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons prepared mustard
16 slices bread
Melted butter

Force pimiento, onion, cheese, and eggs through food chopper. Add spices. Mix. Spread on bread. Brush tops with melted butter and grill in pan or under broiler. Serve. Makes 8 wiches.

Mmmmmmmmmmm Gooooood!

The plan - Road Trip
Pitt stops: - in no order whatsoever

- grocery store
- post office
- bank
- crafts store
- Target
- drop off recyclables

And I thought this was suppose to be a day off. Someone, wake me from my dream. PLEASE.

An extra day off

Hey folks, it's Tuesday and I'm at home taking the day off. Ohh YEAH!! I've never been one to take a Monday or Tuesday off around a three day holiday, but this time I decided to go for it. So I'm joining a portion of the American population that is making this a four day weekend. Although a day off means doing what ever when ever, easy come easy go type of attitude, I'm already feeling like the day is speeding right ahead. It's already 9:50! I originally woke up at 6 (must be habit), rolled over for another 30 minutes or so, then stared at four walls until around 7:30. OK, that's it! Let's start moving around. I spent a little while looking over a cookbook troving for something different to make for lunch, then had a crappy breakfast; that being cereal and a poptart. I didn't feel too bad because the hot sandwich I plan on making for lunch will have eggs and (can it be) BREAD. Ahhh, staple food. I've been spending a little time getting photo's downloaded from the digital camera and selecting photo's for this post. I've got to get a system down to make it quicker I tell you. I think I've got a file naming system down that will keep files in order but also let me reference dates as well. I suppose I'm a little slow right now because I'm new to all this photo stuff. After several more times, I might have it down to a science. We'll see. For the rest of the day, I've got bills to pay and a trip to the grocery store before lunch. Afterwards, I'm planning a trip to a fabric or hobby store to get fabric for a cover for the entertainment stand. I'd like to try making things look more simplified when I'm not goofing off on the computer. Ya know, that whole feng shui thing. Again, we'll see. Unknown what's for dinner. I'd like to cook something, but not sure what yet.

So yesterday turned out to be a rather uneventful day. The only real excitement was checking out the Albuquerque Wine Festival at the Albuquerque Balloon Park. I'd never heard of it until this year, but apparently, this three day event takes place every Memorial Day weekend. News to me. The only wine festival I've known of has been the one that takes place in Bernalillo in the Fall. See, I learned something new this year. Now if I can only learn what 2 + 2 equals.

The Event - No shortage of a crowd.

When you've just had it all, the grass comes in pretty darn handy.

Well as this post gets longer by the second, I'd like to close with a rant on this whole holiday thing. In particular, on how every holiday seems to be a major event for the retail industry to sell us shit. Sales seem to be everywhere. I'll admit that I haven't heard as much in the way of T.V. and radio ads, but trust me there out there. The one that is sticking in my mind is a radio ad for a car dealer. Goes something like this, In order to gauge the economic strength of this area, [car dealer] is holding a four day market test . . . You get the idea. One other rant, why has every holiday become a means to party. Even this Memorial Day holiday is suppose to be somber moment to reflect on what this nation is all about, pay honor to those who have fallen for our freedom, and to question if what were assigning our troops to do around the world really achieves our nations goals. Instead, our public parks are full, and there is plenty of food left overs from the barbecue to last a while.

Anyways, the music I've got going is lulling me right now. Time to shift gears with the music and the mood. Cheers all.

Memorial Day

It's Memorial Day. A day to honor our service men and women in the US Military. As mentioned yesterday, I took a trip to the Sante Fe National Cemetery. Here are a couple of photo's. However you chose to honor our Military, I hope you feel rewarded in your efforts.

Survived the day.

Well it's the end of another day. Today went well. We took a trip to the cemetery and our scenic drive went well. I'll share some photo's tomorrow. The camera's downloaded and I'm just a bit too tired to deal with all the image moving, resizing, renaming, etc. Just keep your eyeballs peeled tomorrow. After we got back around 6:30pm, we took a trip to Sweet Tomato's for supper. As usual, I get more salad which leaves less room for the more solid food. Salad is great, but doesn't stick around for very long.

I've given the FireFox, Macrohard, blogger problem some more though, and along the lines of what K. commented, I'm wondering if, when it comes to Windows based computers, if Macrohard and blogger aren't in bed together. Just a thought. I haven't spent a lot of time looking into the issue, so I can't claim the statement above. I'll look into it some more in the coming day's.

Anyways, I'm in for some R-n-R, so I think I'll lull myself on the couch with a DVD movie in the new player that K. got me. Sharp picture too. So, let me get to looking through my small collection while I bid you all good night. Enjoy folks.

Remembrance # 2

Well, it's Sunday and I'm getting ready to head off to my folks house. Today's plan is to visit my father in Sante Fe's National Cemetery in New Mexico. We'll pay our respects not only to him, but also to all the service men and women in the military. Honoring them through this Memorial Day holiday. After that, looks like we'll be taking a scenic drive through the city of Los Alamos and other byway's. We'll probably grab a bit somewhere before heading home. Should make for a nice afternoon.

On another front, I'm wondering if anyone knows what's going on with the following problem; when I use FireFox browser to make changes to the blogger template, the "!" hourglass stalls for days, while Macrohard Exploder works fine. I haven't looked into it too much yet, but I'm hoping there is a quick answer out there.

See ya!

Oh, helping global warming

Well apparently, I hear that the city of Albuquerque has enacted a new ordinance that allows one to be fined if you have weeds in your yard that are over four feet high. So The Peak radio station had some guy out this morning choosing random houses and going in to pull a few weeds. When the morning DJ crew was talking to him, he commented he was stopping global warming one weed at a time. How funny!

DSL up and Running

Mark your calender!!! Mighty's on the high speed freeway truck en right along. Problems officially resolved at 7:52 pm Mountain Standard Time. 9:52 Eastern Standard Time. 7:52 am in some unknown location on the other side of the planet. Y'all get my drift? I can already tell a difference. Blogger loaded a whole lot quicker. And, I can actually see the damn cursor now in this editing window. Will make editing much easier.

OK. Now what! Well how about pondering this - I got a letter in the mail the other day from the electric power company asking me to support clean energy by joining PNM's Sky Blue program. Now, the way this works is you can chose to pay an extra $1.80 per 100 kilowatt hours of power you use or chose to utilize 90% of your monthly energy usage via clean energy (so your monthly bill will vary). Now, consider this, when do most residents use electricity the most in their homes? Your right, early morning and evening / night. How does this average power usage compare with the average power usage by business during the day? Apples and oranges my friends. As a matter of fact, the power company has to burn the excess energy it receives through dummy loads.

So they want us to pay higher energy rates for power they are throwing away? I don't think so. It's a step forward, but this needs greater emphasis during the day.

Mighty has spoken.

DSL update

Well, after picking up my DSL modem yesterday after work, I THOUGHT I was going to be surf'en -n- blog'en from home. But alas, it was not to be. But I had a great substitute! K. invited me over for some chow and goofing off. Thanks K. It helped take my mind off other things.

Anyways, I had no luck with the supposed plug-n-play that the new modem was suppose to give me. I called tech support today expecting some suggestions. What did I get instead? Are you at your computer Mighty? No. Have you ever known tech support to make things easy? No. But I'm at work you see. Tech support is here until 10 p.m. uhhhhh Wow!! Okay, I'll call back tonight. - Can't believe their open that late. Customer support I see. So without further delay . . .

Editors note: Remembrance

Well as happens every year, I seem to get dates surrounding my fathers passing mixed up. I don't know why. I NEVER have a problem remembering the event happened at my birthday and NEVER have a problem remembering that the time from shooting to passing was three day's. After looking over some stuff last night, I know it happened again. Why did I post before confirming? I suppose I had a desire to unload my thoughts since they have been weighing heavily over the last few day's. Of course, this is still no excuse seeing that we paid a visit to him on Sunday. So rather than edit the flow (and mood) of my Remembrance post, I'll set the record straight here. The shooting was on the evening of May 18. His passing was on May 22. All other references are the same.

A Remembrance

Well here are are, two day's after my birthday. Do I feel any different? Not really. I will have to say that it posed for some good celebration memories with K. on Friday night and the family on Sunday afternoon. But as I sit here at the close of another working day I have something else on my mind at the moment. And that would happen to be the passing of my father on May 20, 1990. Yes, it is a day late so-to-speak, but I'm in the process of converting Internet providers at home and hence am stuck at the moment. The events surrounding my fathers passing are not pleasant, but here goes. See, my father was working the graveyard shift at a local gas station on the night of the 17th when he was randomly robbed and shot. The robber initially retrieved the money from the cash register. Around $30 due to this gas stations policy to place excess cash into a nearby safe through a slit for which only the store manager knows the combination. My father was then asked to lay down and not to call the police. My father waited a few minutes after the robber left and then made the call. While on the phone, the robber reappeared and authoritatively restated that he was not to call the police and proceeded to shoot my father. Of course this part was recorded and my father was air lifted to the hospital. He survived the initial surgery and became well enough to tell his story to the police. I decided to return to work the following day (on the 20th) and then left early in the morning upon a call from mom to return to the hospital. Once there, there was a flurry of activity surrounding my father. It had happened. He passed away. An autopsy revealed a major vein just behind the heart that had been nicked by one of the bullets, but not damaged enough to be found during the initial surgery. Of course, given time, the weakened vein failed.

He currently rest in the Santa Fe National Cemetery in New Mexico. We visited him yesterday and will plan to do so again this coming weekend for Memorial Day. Yesterday was a quite time to reflect. Next week will be a time to both reflect and honor his service in the US Navy for 27 years.

There are many things to say about him. Perhaps I will delve there in the future, perhaps not. But for now, this will suffice. To A.J.W., I say, "Live long and prosper, for you will live in us always."

Draw strength from memories of the past, for they will help guild your future.

Another year on planet Earth

Yup, it's another year on planet Earth. I turn 37 years old today (well really around 11:47 pm tonight, but who's counting the minutes). Things are going great. Again, my post surgery is healing well, work is going OK, I had a great time with K. last night, and again, I has a great time with K. last night! We went out clubbing around downtown and checked out the Hypefestival event. This was day two. Heard some really good bands. "Say again" was a popular phrase last night. I wonder why. Anyways, this was part of K.'s taking me out to celebrate my birthday. I even got a WOW gift - a dvd recorder with VHS deck on one unit. Holly molly, now I can get rid of the flaky recorder at home and upgrade all my VHS stuff to DVD. Now how much are those recordable disk?

So I'm chill'en waiting for K. to wake up so we can grab some chow. She's got a business meeting and dinner later today, so I hope we don't eat breakfast too late to interfere with her hunger later. But judging by how late we where out and up last night, it might be a while yet.

We saw some cool stuff last night. One of which was this artist (one of the band members) who was painting people with unusual symbols and markings. K. even got branded. How cool is that. Then at another bar, there was this woman dressed in black playing around with this "lighted" hula-hoop. Picture this, dark setting, hopp'en rock music, and this dancing chic with a lighted hula-hoop. VERY COOL! We even saw this (shall we say larger) guy dancing on the floor. Funny stuff.

Now I've got another celebration to do with my folks. Will probably do that on Sunday. I'm thinking about taking a drive to Santa Fe this weekend. Should be nice for a family visit and a chance to see some open road. The drive is about an hour or so, depending on the wind - lol.

All in all, here's the deal - I'm having a great time. I'm 37 years old now. We'll see what comes up around the bend. Southern style. Y'all hear me now? Cheers!

Long-n-boring

Now that would have been a short post, eh? I think short-n-sweet is little over rated. I might as well have posted two words: Do'en good. What do ya think? I thought so.

Work has progressed well today. I'm still thinking about my new hero I read about yesterday. Casey Serin. The guy who is in real estate bankruptcy. And he is pulling it off. He has become immortal. The hero of our generation. I can't wait to meet him some day. Is it luck? Perhaps strategy? Maybe a combination of both. My Hero. Anyways, he's got some work to pull himself out of the hole he's gotten himself into. Now if I tried this same thing, I know for a fact that I would be seeing bars all around me right about now. My meals would be handed to me through a rectangle slot. And . . . I would have all kinds of time to ponder life because life just wouldn't be going anyway. How do they get so lucky. I've got to find their secret! Maybe I'll start with Casey's web page.

In other notes, I should have DSL tomorrow. The phone company called late yesterday to say that the transfer would happen automatically on Friday. Then I'll need to get a DSL modem and I'm good to go.

What else, what else, what else. Let's see, let's see, let's see. Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm.

MySpace

Why MySpace. Well there is a music event happening this weekend and I'm looking through the list of bands playing at the various bars downtown. I'm looking the bands up on the web and finding a lot of them with MySpace accounts to give folks a taste of their music. Some of it is okay, other stuff is not-no, fuck-no. We shall see how my search continues to go. In the end, the event will probably be a play it by ear event. Walk around, hear something interesting, move in for a closer listen until whenever. Sound good. I know you know so.

What else is up. Well no Internet at home until I get my DSL stuff going. The new computer does not have a standard phone jack so I can't get my dial-up fix. I feel so . . . SO . . . upgraded. Quick, call a doctor. So I'll have to suffer for a week or so. [Where did all the so's come from?] I think I'll live, but I think I'll be checking out more MySpace stuff once I get things setup at home. If nothing more than to see the fun stuff people have out there. Now, let's try to calculate just how many hours I'll burn doing that. Hmmmm. OR!!!!! We could try to calculate how many hours I'll burn playing Dungeon Siege. Played it a bit last night and WOW. I had played it at a friends house some years ago, and forgot just how much fun the game was.

What's next on the day's list? Head home and play. I think I'll try to get the digital camera software loaded and download all the photo's from my camera. First time since I bough the thing. See, my darling just wasn't able to handle camera's software. I will miss her. Or maybe NOT. She was great in her youth. And then . . .

Good and Bad

As I open to day's post, let's move along from bad things to good things. Shall we? After all, ending on a positive note would would certainly set the mood for later tonight.

To start, why was I hired my my current employer? By today's events, I would have to guess that it was to accept the raw end of a stick while having to gleefully accept the opinions of others. You see, I got pulled into a project yesterday in an attempt to help hasten the apparently slow progress of said project. Okay. I can help with this. I came up with a game plan to accomplish portions of the project and set forth to work it out. From my end, I made no progress this morning due to xyz crap and a doctors appointment mid morning. So I roll in this afternoon and get asked about how I intend to accomplish the goals. [Excuse me while I bend over next to a fan. Oh, that's better, pressure relieved.] My plan is apparently not acceptable because it will not be conductive to getting the project done TODAY! Well, wait a minute here. P.A. system vs. quite guy. You can see how this conversation went. Anyways, I had other stuff planned for the afternoon and I was NOT happy with the insinuation that the project HAD to be done today so that good news could be reported in tomorrow mornings staff meeting. Dear God. Not a fun afternoon folks. Project isn't done, but they will just have to live with it. I can dedicate more time with it tomorrow though. So it should get done by EOB. I think what really pissed me off the most is the final notion that the stuff had to be done his way and there was constant plugging that my action plan was more work than was required. Well, why did you ask for my help then?!

Okay, doctor's visit went well. Wound is healing great and I'm good to go. In a few weeks, I need to start massaging it for about 30 minutes each day. I should also use sunscreen. Apparently, a tan through this summer will only make the the wound show more prominently on a permanent basis.

All right, now for the good news!! [I'm already feeling better just thinking about it.] My new computer is IN. Got files transferred from old computer to new system and am ready to take it home. It will take me a while to get used to the new speed. Specs later along with photo's. Now without further procrastination, it's time to head for home. Gotta, gotta, gotta hook it up and play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers!

Nothing much happening

Well today has been R&R on a monumental scale. The only real bout of activity so far has been making biscuits this morning and cleaning up the dishes. I did take a walk up to the park. But otherwise . . . I should be going through the computer hard drive to determine what I should keep and trash in preparation for the new computer, but I'm just not in the mood for that. So alas, I continue my Rest and Relaxation movement in Opus, C-major. Performed by the Unknown Orchestra, conducted by Mighty.

Clean en house and such

Getting things ready around the house. I've got mom coming over this afternoon. Over the past few weeks, I've let the place slide a bit. And for good reason I might add. Well today I'm making up for that - yeah right! Don't expect Matha or Ty to come rolling through. But it will look a little better. I just talked to the neighbor across the street who has a truck. I need some help hauling some stuff over to Goodwill. We'll do that tomorrow morning. Looks like I'm finally going to get rid of this old computer chair and other crap in the bedroom. Things will look a lot better then. Finally!

Alright enough goofing off. I've got the jungle in the front patio done and now it's time to move into the apartment. But first, a tall, COOL, glass of Ice Tea. Oh Yeah!

Get food and feel good!

Well, Saturday, May 12th is the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. (1) Put some non-perishable food items in a bad and place it by your mailbox. (2) Your letter Carrier will pick it up and deliver to local food banks!

Well, Friday, May 11th is Mighty's Clean Out the Fridge Day! (1) Remove all perishable food items that do not smell edible. (2) Gawk over just how empty your fridge looks. (3) Gawk over just how much room you now have to put the next round of leftovers!

All Right Now! Just relaxing at the computer while I indulge in some Disaronno Originale - The World's Favorite Italian Liqueur. Enjoying the sweet taste while I turn up (hold on) the radio to hear Pink's (bee right back) (3.5 minutes later) Your Hand. What a song. Feeling real good tonight. The week is over, the weather is just awesome at the moment, the post surgery wound is feeling great, I think I'm finally over this coughing hack I've had the last two or so weeks, Pink has just lifted me a little higher, and finally, I get a chance to redeem myself this weekend. All is well at the homestead. Redeem you ask? That's right, Mother's Day is around the corner and I've got to make amends from a while back. And as Disaronno starts to kick in, I hope tonight finds you all in that special tranquil place enjoying life in your own peaceful way.

As I set here and type, I was going to comment on last nights
IBS post, but I'm feeling a bit too good to drag myself down with the in's and outs of what that references. So you'll just have to hang onto your chair for the moment. I do want to comment that tommow is K.'s Birthday!!!!!!!!! Happy 36 to YOU. Keep chill en Krazy. We'll see ya in the moonlight Wide-eye's

Speaking of birthday's - mine is coming up here in just seven day's! May 19th will herald my 37th year on planet earth. I was born about 11:47pm. [one moment while I pour more liquor - and pause for Nickelbacks Far Away] Yep. It'll be another day. Will I feel any different? Probably not. Will I feel any different than I did in my early [say] 20's? Again, probably not. We all age. It's a fact of life. And, as I have heard/read around, apparently, the later years are the best. I for one am looking forward to see what the latter half of my life will bring.

Well, it's time to move on to some other things. With the pauses for music and thoughts on how to word my thoughts, I'm looking at about 35 minutes so far just writing this little blurb. And Disaronno isn't helping much. Funny how I can drink with K. or in a social situation and not feel the effects as much even with larger amounts of the stuff. STRANGE. Oh well, bye for now.

Enlightened Sugguestions

If Yeildmanager would just go away with all their pop ups, even dial-up would be a bit quicker. Oh well. Long Die Yeildmanager! Only in my dreams. Ha. - Well on with the main gist of this post:

IBS
Make suggestions with the intent to enlighten the weary. For to demand action by your words is pure jealousy.

Just take my DSL order please!

Here we are at the end of another working day. Except for a few instances where I've pushed myself a little too much and become light headed, it's been a good day. The weather has also improved a lot outside. Blue sky with white pillow clouds, just a light pleasant breeze, and warmer temps - Eh Yeah!!

Well apparently, Netzero doesn't want me as a customer anymore. I'm trying to get things lined up to upgrade myself to DSL at home. I'd like to stick with Netzero and just upgrade my service, but alas, Netzero doesn't want to work with me. You see, when I speak with them regarding ordering and upgrading my service, they ask me for my phone number. Okay. They they plug this number into a general search engine to see if DSL is available in my area. Answer - NO. But a call to my phone company indicates that DSL is available at my home and they promptly ask me if I want to switch to their service and have the boy's activate the DSL line. I've tried explaining this to the good folks at Netzero, but the folks in India (or where ever they are from - certainly NOT the U.S. of A) simply continue to plug my phone number into the computer and wait for the response, then quote standard passages from their computer screen. I've even tried to email tech support, but the responses I've been getting sound a whole lot like canned automated replies. Even though it is signed by Shane C. I think it's just a cover myself. Anyways, god forbid I should have to go with MSN as my provider. They are in bed with the phone company and thus have the package deal. This certainly would be the cheapest, and easiest route to go. No fighting, simply submit to destiny. We shall see.

Tool was Too Cool

Great concert last night. First time I have seen Tool. Opening band was some unknown. Oh, get off the stage already! Thankfully, they only played for about 30 minutes. Tool kicked in about 30 minutes later. Played for about 2.5 hours. I only have two complains: (1) the lead singer could have stepped up closer to the fans. He stayed on a platform at the rear of the stage the whole time. (2) the musical interludes in between songs sometimes dragged too long. Keep it shorter please. But otherwise, for this Tool newbie, no other complaints.

Now, if I could only get myself to not feel the pain of finals week that I feel for some of my fellow friends and coworkers that are having to deal with it this week. I know all too well what this weeks is like and I wish them the best as the week comes to a close. I myself would normally be sweating it out this week as well, but since I succumbed to destiny, I'm home free. My hyper parathyroid issue has certainly taken precedence. I, for one, just don't seem to care about school at the moment. Which is a stark change from my normal mode of having school almost constantly on my mind. I should be worried about what classes I want / need to take in the Fall, and get myself signed up for them. But . . . I think I'll deal with that later. Should I care? Well - Yeah! Does it bother me? Not so much right now.

Speaking of hyper parathyroid, my post surgery wound continues to heal well. My heads range of motion improves every day as the skin at the incision heals and allows a bit more stretch than before. I am super, ultra pleased with how this surgery has went. I would have expected to be out of action a lot longer, but so far, my recovery has been just awesome. At this rate, I'll probably give shaving a try this weekend. Say bye bye hobo. Ha!

And when thy ears listen, will your mind unveil that before you.

Did I hear Tool?

YES. I think I did hear Tool. And better yet, I'll be hearing Tool tonight! In concert! Did you hear Tool? Well we'll both have heard Tool after tonight. Got tickets. Got plans with brother. Ready to go! Here's the final checklist:

- jet work
- eat
- hang for bro
- go deaf

I think that about does it. Oh, one other thing - I've got the hearing aids on standby. Haha!!

Not Again!

Well looks like I'll (and maybe a good number of other listeners) be suffering again with the next radio medical contest. The radio station that gave us two (2) (dos) $10000 cosmetic surgery makeovers is now giving away one (1) (ono) $10000 prize in laser hair removal. Come'on folks, break out the razor or give it up!

Saw the doctor today regarding some whittie/yelowie pussie fluid that started coming from around my incision area last night. Good news is it's nothing to worry about. The area the fluid is coming from is probably just an area that got burned when they were patching things up. Bad news is she almost doesn't want to see me again! How could she! She said the wound is healing wonderfully and it is at my discretion if I want to see her again on my scheduled May 18th appointment with her. [sniffle] She doesn't like me anymore.

Otherwise, what a day outside. Blue sky, low wind, warmer (keep going) temp. All while being stuck inside. How about that. Well time to go blow this Popsicle stand and head for home. Take a break before heading out a bit later. Cheers All.

Directions

Turn left on Palace, right on 4th, right on Edith, left on Paris, right on . . . to the new your new home in xxx Estates. Alright already! What's up with the bizarre directions. Can you back up few streets please. This is a commercial running on the radio recently. How about a quick phone number. Not that I'm looking or could even afford it.

So here's Saturday. Rest, Rest, and Rest. Pretty bland day. Only real excitement is the chance to head over to K.'s place later. Hope she likes the Don Johnson look. Otherwise I've been trying to adjust the background color of this blogger editing screen while I'm typing this. I can not see the cursor and the mouse doesn't show either. Makes it hard to edit as you go. I'm toying with the Windows properties for the colors, but they haven't kicked in. Perhaps it will when I open a new blogger editing window. I hope so, cause it's been bugging me lately. Oh well, back to beating it - sorry, playing with it. Bye.

Friday afternoon / evening

OK, so where do I stand this Friday. Well the only real general discomfort today has been soreness around the cut area. Although the area has become a little larger, it hasn't become too uncomfortable. The area seems to bother me more when I stretch the skin around that area. Wait - we need Abby to figure this one out: Dear Abby, . . .

For example, laying on my back is uncomfortable while laying on my side is okay. Probably because the skin is loose in that area. Yesterday's side sleeping/waking effect in the hands occurred only for a short period this morning, maybe 20 minutes or so an not near as bad as yesterday.

Other, new, side effects for today. Oh boy! Well I had about a 45 minute stint this morning where my heart beat was just pounding. Beat was not irregular or speedy, just every beat seemed to rattle my entire upper chest. Glad that eventually went away. The other oddity today - my unaided vision seems worse than normal. I hope this does not last long. We shall see.

I have managed to pull four hours of work today. This has went pretty well. I've tried to sit most of the time, but the general nature of my work is more physical work rather than desk work. So keeping my ass planted has been a challenge. Overall though, I've been feeling better as the day has progressed. I think moving around a bit today has helped. And another thing - amazing as it may be - I'm not all too tired right now. Is this because I've got two day's of rest behind me, or because of post surgery relief? mmmmmmmm.

Well that's it for now. Time to head home and rest. It's now overcast and very windy outside. I left my coat in the car earlier, so hopefully the wind doesn't have a chill to it. See Ya.

Thursday update

Here's a Thursday update for you all. Been doing real well today. As long as I don't overextend myself, I'm able to function pretty well. Its become apparent, although no real surprise, that I'll have to take it easy for a few weeks. No strenuous activity for a while. The incision on my neck feels pretty good as long as I keep my head facing forward and tilted down a bit.

I did have an interesting side effect this morning. I woke up with my feet and hands a little numb and tingly. Feels like a combination of them simultaneously going to sleep and waking up. As the morning progressed, my feet returned to normal while my hands progressively got worse until it reached a stabilizing point. This feeling lasted until about noon or so, then gradually subsided. It did return briefly later, but only briefly. With this effect, I wondered if it could be blood pressure related. As in, my blood pressure had fallen too low post surgery. So, this morning, I called the Q&A number listed on the paperwork I got yesterday. Left a message. Received phone call. Around 1:30pm. Not happy. Why have this phone number listed if no ones going to cover the phone or it will take 4 to 5 hours to return the call. Ummmm! Anyways, the cause of the problem could be changes in electrolyte activity as the body adjusts to the new hormone levels (from post surgery) or could indeed be a result of blood pressure. Broad answer, could be many things that are causing it. So, later in the day, I went with my brother up to Walgreen's to measure it. It's still high, so I'll resume my blood pressure meds tomorrow. At least it is not low, which is why I skipped my meds this morning. I assume it will take a few weeks for my body to fully readjust. We shall see.

For now though, it is time to get back to relaxing a bit. I had a nice nap this afternoon lasting around 90 minutes. Was great! Tomorrow, I think I will try to swing a half day of work. I'm still at my folks place. My brother has to swing by the area of town I live in in the morning anyways, so I'll just hitch a ride then. Grab my car and plan on working the latter half of tomorrow.

There's the latest folks. Hope all's well in your neck of the woods.
CHEERS!!

Surgery Update

Hello folks! Things are going well, so I thought I'd pop in with an update. Surgery when well. Doctor J. indicated that she found the overactive parathyroid without much trouble. They put me under around 9:45am or so and I started to become conscious around 12:30. Doctors indicated that they put me in recovery around 11:30. The incision cut was on my neck just above the two bones that begin to define your shoulders. It is about one or so inches long. No stitches! They are using some new "glue" like substance that, well, glues the cut together. Pretty cool, eh.

The other really cool thing is that the post pain from surgery has been very little so far. Heavier at first, but has subsided as the day has progressed. That being since I left the hospital and got to my place around 1:30 or so. Then took the drive (okay, passengers drive) to mom's place around 4pm. So now just chill'en the night away till I go to bed later. I also have instructions to place an ice bag on it in half-hour increments. That is half-hour ON, half-hour OFF, etc.

I had a little bit to eat around 5 and my tummy is starting to talk to me. Time to make a phone call and then delve into a little more food. I'm eating light meals right now while I'm in recovery. I'll eat larger meals starting tomorrow.

Well, time to make that phone call, and dig up some food. Cheers!

Show time

Surgery time: 10:15am
Arrival time: anywhere 8 - 8:30
Time to get ready this morning: 50 minutes
Normal morning routine time: around 2 hours
Weather: overcast and a bit rainy
Odor: fresh, brisk, clean air. Gotta love it.

Planning the night

Hello folks,

Here's a short blurb before I leave work for the day. Tomorrow is my surgery, so I'll probably skip this blog for a day or two. Since I've never really learned how to check phone messages at home remotely, I'll find out what time I have to be in tomorrow when I get home. Wish me luck! This surgery is done outpatient, so I'm hoping things go smooth.

Well the day started out pretty nice, then within a few hours after lunch, the wind and rainy clouds have arrived. Should make for good resting tonight if this keeps up. So with that in mind, I'm going to head for home, rest up and plan a late evening meal just before the eight hour fast begins.

Take care folks.
