Slacker

Well, here I am. Blog Slacker at large. That's right, SLACKER! Here is the first bit of free time I've tried to take for myself in about three weeks. Well that's a lie and if you believed it, good for you.

Let's see, actually, I took last Saturday night off in a spur of the moment to see I am Legend playing at the dollar spot. It's the new one with Will Smith. I thought it was pretty good. And for you ladies out there, Mr. Smith got buff for this roll. Now I know that got you interested. Then on Sunday, after a full day of chores and a few hours of work, I hung out with the folks. Nice evening. Then it was back to the grind.

What else has been going on? Bad news on two fronts, that's what. First front: my boss is accusing me of being a slacker again. What a guy. He says that he has flat out tried to can me, but HR is saving my ass with the notion that I am unaware that my perceived work performance is not up to par. If there is one thing you do not do, it's call me a slacker. He also does not like my troubleshooting skills. OK, so I do the best I can without having ten years of Intel or Phillips behind me. So I'm now in save my job mode. My ability to change things will depend on how much other job duties lighten up. Some of which my boss just does not understand. Just how do you prove the validity of many of the intangible task that I do.

On the second front, work related again, I had a major screw up late Thursday evening. A repair that (in the end) took only about 45 minutes to find and fix, turned into a nightmare that in the end will suck about a day and a half of my time and cost around a grand to repair! It's a long story, but in short, all accounts of my fuck up can be placed on me. In hind sight, I made too many assumptions based on past experiences during the repair with out confirming. I'm not happy to say the least. For one, this comes on the heels of the above crap with my boss, and two, it put a number of people in a pretty inconvenient position. I busted my ass to try to resurrect the tool, but no luck. Now I'm waiting on a part that should be delivered Monday morning.

I analyzed my failure and I believe I've finally learned something of myself. Most of the time, I can slowly plot my path to a successful repair or maintenance procedure, but in the times that I have had either a failure or a rash of unclear thinking, what I might honestly consider borderline incompetence, I believe the root of that is that my mind begins to race with the notion of "let's do this and don't think about it." It's like I'm running all the stop signs without stopping to look both way's before I proceed. Very frustrating. I'll certainly have to make a mental note of this and try to realize / recognize the onset of this condition in the future.

On the work front again, I've got to work tomorrow. There is a new tool that is being commissioned and wouldn't you know it, we've got company reps from out of the country in town. This will be training in operation as well as some of the technical details of the tool. We did about half a day today. Interesting stuff, but a mountain of information to learn. Not only in operation of the tool, but also in practical knowledge of the process. Surely will not be learned in a one day training marathon, but we'll make the best of it.

School wise, going OK. I got a C on my first test in Fields and Waves. A miracle in my book. The Microprocessors class is still going well. It is getting rougher, but still, at the moment, feel like I'll need CPR if I don't make an A in the class.

Next week is spring break!!!! Oh yeah!

On a fun note, heard the new song from Miley Cyrus? First of all, what a little hottie. She's growing up not only physically, but vocally as well. She's voice is both deepening and maturing. Her new hew song, "See You Again," is right up my alley of favored music. Check it out here. I think I'll pick up this CD when it comes out. If the rest of the new album is as good as this single, it might actually compete with Kelly Clarkson's My December. We'll have to see.

Anyways, time to go. I'll need to be at work no later than 7:45 in the morning and last night was rather sleepless spazing over my work problem and the fact that I went in at 3:30am to check on things. Oh well. Some people wonder how I do it. That is, deal with the school and some of the work issues without (apparently) affecting me. Well first, I think it has to do with my Taurus roots. I used to read that stuff with a grain of salt. But now . . . I believe, it's who I am. Who else would continue with school despite my past failures / setbacks and for that matter, who else would slug forward at work to serve the needs of many despite the misunderstood perceptions of one. And second in this line of thought is the motto that I live by. I've said it many times, and I'll say it many more:

IBS:
Deal with it and move on.

College Success

Oh what a busy day. It all started off with the start of a short five week course at CNM on College Success. It's a one credit hour course that will meet on Saturday's fro 9 - 12 at their Montoya Campus.
Even though I've been going to school for centuries, I figure I can't loose by taking this class. I'm sure there will be something to learn on time management, study skills, memory skills, learning styles, and other related topics. My general philosophy is to go into every class with an open mind. For if you close it like a know-it-all, then you truly will learn nothing.

Then it was lunch and study for a few hours. Stop at the store, swing by home for a bite to eat, then laundry. And here we are folks. What a Day!

So you might be saying, "How boring. Normal life!" Ok, Ok, cut me a little slack here. I could mention how it's been somewhat windy all day, but I won't. I could talk about getting up at 4:30 this morning, but nah. How about that the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta started today. Missed it because they were up and down by 8:30 and I was Mr. Bookworm.

How about this little tid-bit while I listen to Kelly Clarkson's How I feel. The Universities Crime report came out. Let's look at some reported figures for the 2006 year, shall we. Burglary - 55. Motor Vehicle Theft - 69. And how about this figure: Liquor Law Violations - 23. Somehow, I don't believe it. That figures fudged I tell ya.

Then I could babble about this new singles club I went too on Thursday night. The topic of the event . . . . Online Profiles. A real blast! Pass around profiles and critique them. Of course, I did not bring mine because the original description for the event was suppose to be on your "online profile photo." "So bring your camera!" Well, something different in the end. No mates, but meat some interesting folks.

What else, what else - Harry Potters playing at the dollar theater. Might check it out later this week. No class next Thursday as the University is having Fall Break. Two day's off of classes. It won't be long enough.

Well, I think that just about wraps up the week. Until next time . . .

Tid-bits

Tonight's Tid-bits !!!

1) Late night snack - Don't even ask where the inspiration for this concoction came from. (All quantities ROUGH)

1 cup spaghetti
1/4 cup ground beef
1/8 cup diced onion
dash sage, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce
salt and pepper to taste
1/4 cup cottage cheese
1 tbsp pure maple syrup

Cook spaghetti til done. Cook beef till done. Drain. Add next four rows of stuff. Simmer about 10 minutes. Combine spaghetti, meat, cottage cheese and syrup. Eat.

2) I figured the hidden song on Kelly Clarkson's My December disc. Song number 13 is just supper long song with about a 1 minute break of silence after the "posted" song. Just be patient!

3) Dishes? Dear God.

4) I'm finally getting some rain in my neck of the woods. Smells nice.

5) Rant! It frustrates me when I say I would like to do something, but get wrapped up in something else that I'd rather NOT have spent as much time dealing with. Time for a L.Y.R. (say it now - like "lurr." Like it's a LYR moment! Know what I mean? OK - Late Years Resolution - Focus more on what I'd rather be doing. Yeah right! We'll see how long that last.

Night Task

Well the night seems to be going as planned so far. Maybe not in the order I envisioned . . . , but aims for the night are being completed. Let's see, there's grocery shopping, washing the car windows, shower, blog, shortly I'll eat a little, and finally, I'll wash the dishes I've generated since last night. This is all getting done so all I'll have to worry about tomorrow is cooking when I get home from work. I've got ingredients for two recipes. I'll see what I'm in the mood for when I hit the kitchen tomorrow night.

Well believe it or not, Rosie has removed herself from consideration for the Price is Right job. Thank God. Now I can rest easy. And in other news . . . there is no news. Ha ha - Gotcha.

Well short post, short exit for tonight. See ya.

Pointless

Hello folks. Here Mighty is poised to babble about absolutely nothing. Can you believe it? That Mighty would actually waste your time with posting a post that says nothing at all and is all about nothing. Well believe it folks! And this blog is here to prove it. So mark your calenders. When you see a blog entry that starts out something like this, you know right away that your time could be spent better else where. After all, time is a valuable thing, is it not. Ask yourself, does reading a blog that contains pointless babble read faster than an entry that contains real content? I knew it! Pointless babble is just that - pointless.

Peace in YOU

Just got home from work. Have you ever left work and decided to drive the most crooked, longest route you could conjure up as you drove home? Yep. That was my drive home. Just in a mood to take my time and come up with a different way to get to the ole homestead.

Although I'm over it now, I ran into a guy a work today I have not seen in a long time. This guy works on a piece of equipment we have a service contract on. So. Ran into him and spent a little time catching up on the latest. As it turns out, he (along with everyone else on planet earth) (OK OK - in my spherical world) knows that I am taking classes and asked how that effort was going. Well I didn't really know how to answer him and sort of beat around the bush with sorta kinda hinting kinda that things had not been going well on that front. The thought of how to answer the question sort of added to my already bummed mood at the time. [While this morning was productive, I got into a bout of what do I do now? after a later than usual lunch. I hate being in that mode of operation.] Anyways, now that you have some background info, you got the insight for the following:

Do not judge how others might criticize your actions, for ultimately, your internal peace rides higher than their demoralizing words.

And besides . . . they just might be on your side.

Okay. Time to lighten up as I guess this post is weighing on me again. How about Paris Hilton?!! Get back in that cell!

Okay, break for a grocery run. Be back soon with a new random photo for the day and some babble from unknown origins.

Another year on planet Earth

Yup, it's another year on planet Earth. I turn 37 years old today (well really around 11:47 pm tonight, but who's counting the minutes). Things are going great. Again, my post surgery is healing well, work is going OK, I had a great time with K. last night, and again, I has a great time with K. last night! We went out clubbing around downtown and checked out the Hypefestival event. This was day two. Heard some really good bands. "Say again" was a popular phrase last night. I wonder why. Anyways, this was part of K.'s taking me out to celebrate my birthday. I even got a WOW gift - a dvd recorder with VHS deck on one unit. Holly molly, now I can get rid of the flaky recorder at home and upgrade all my VHS stuff to DVD. Now how much are those recordable disk?

So I'm chill'en waiting for K. to wake up so we can grab some chow. She's got a business meeting and dinner later today, so I hope we don't eat breakfast too late to interfere with her hunger later. But judging by how late we where out and up last night, it might be a while yet.

We saw some cool stuff last night. One of which was this artist (one of the band members) who was painting people with unusual symbols and markings. K. even got branded. How cool is that. Then at another bar, there was this woman dressed in black playing around with this "lighted" hula-hoop. Picture this, dark setting, hopp'en rock music, and this dancing chic with a lighted hula-hoop. VERY COOL! We even saw this (shall we say larger) guy dancing on the floor. Funny stuff.

Now I've got another celebration to do with my folks. Will probably do that on Sunday. I'm thinking about taking a drive to Santa Fe this weekend. Should be nice for a family visit and a chance to see some open road. The drive is about an hour or so, depending on the wind - lol.

All in all, here's the deal - I'm having a great time. I'm 37 years old now. We'll see what comes up around the bend. Southern style. Y'all hear me now? Cheers!

Long-n-boring

Now that would have been a short post, eh? I think short-n-sweet is little over rated. I might as well have posted two words: Do'en good. What do ya think? I thought so.

Work has progressed well today. I'm still thinking about my new hero I read about yesterday. Casey Serin. The guy who is in real estate bankruptcy. And he is pulling it off. He has become immortal. The hero of our generation. I can't wait to meet him some day. Is it luck? Perhaps strategy? Maybe a combination of both. My Hero. Anyways, he's got some work to pull himself out of the hole he's gotten himself into. Now if I tried this same thing, I know for a fact that I would be seeing bars all around me right about now. My meals would be handed to me through a rectangle slot. And . . . I would have all kinds of time to ponder life because life just wouldn't be going anyway. How do they get so lucky. I've got to find their secret! Maybe I'll start with Casey's web page.

In other notes, I should have DSL tomorrow. The phone company called late yesterday to say that the transfer would happen automatically on Friday. Then I'll need to get a DSL modem and I'm good to go.

What else, what else, what else. Let's see, let's see, let's see. Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm.

Planning the night

Hello folks,

Here's a short blurb before I leave work for the day. Tomorrow is my surgery, so I'll probably skip this blog for a day or two. Since I've never really learned how to check phone messages at home remotely, I'll find out what time I have to be in tomorrow when I get home. Wish me luck! This surgery is done outpatient, so I'm hoping things go smooth.

Well the day started out pretty nice, then within a few hours after lunch, the wind and rainy clouds have arrived. Should make for good resting tonight if this keeps up. So with that in mind, I'm going to head for home, rest up and plan a late evening meal just before the eight hour fast begins.

Take care folks.
